The base is slab built stoneware, it is then edged with coiled pine needles. A final treatment for the pine needles is a wax glaze. The wax gives a lovely sheen, and also adds to the durability of the piece.

THE PROCESS:
This vibrant berry bush stoneware base is hand carved in high relief. This piece has been fired three times to achieve the right look and feel.
The ponderosa pine needles have been colored and then stitched to the base using Waxed Irish Linen. Once attached the pine needles are then glazed with wax, this protects them and gives them a beautiful sheen.
The bottom of the base is signed and has a silicone glaze to reduce the problem of scratched furniture..
This entire process lasts a minimum of three weeks, generally it takes a month or more to finalize each piece
